How can we help?
Find answers to common questions or get in touch with our support team.
For teachers
How do I create an exam?
Sign in to your teacher workspace, go to the exam builder, and either import a PDF or create questions manually. Set a security level, configure settings, and publish to generate an Exam Key.
What question types are supported?
TestBreak supports 7 question types: Multiple Choice, True/False, Short Answer, Long Answer/Essay, Fill in the Blank, Audio Response, and Code.
How does auto-marking work?
Objective questions (MCQ, True/False, Fill in the Blank) are auto-marked based on the correct answer you set. Long-form answers require manual grading with rubric support.
Can I reuse questions across exams?
Yes. Questions are stored as reusable templates in your question bank. You can tag, search, and add them to multiple exams with custom point values.
How do I monitor a live exam?
Open the exam monitor from your dashboard. You can see active sessions, proctoring signals, word counts, and chat messages in real time.
For students
Do I need an account to take an exam?
No. Students join exams by entering an Exam Key and their name. No sign-up or email is required.
What happens if I lose connection?
Your progress is saved. When you reconnect, you may be asked to justify your re-entry. Your teacher reviews the justification and can approve or deny access.
What are toolboxes?
Toolboxes are subject-specific tools available during the exam, such as graphing calculators, periodic tables, code editors, and handwriting upload. Your teacher decides which toolboxes are available.
How do I upload handwritten work?
If handwriting upload is enabled, a QR code will appear during the exam. Scan it with your phone, take a photo of your work, and it will be attached to your submission.
For admins
How do I add teachers to my school?
Go to the teacher management section in your admin dashboard. You can invite teachers by creating accounts with their username and temporary password.
Can I see analytics across all exams?
Yes. The admin dashboard provides school-wide analytics including exam counts, session statistics, and activity summaries.
What happens if my school is deactivated?
If your school is deactivated, admin and teacher accounts will be unable to sign in. Student access to active exams is also suspended. Contact support to reactivate.
